INTRODUCTION TO STENOGRAPHY

Stenography Course Introduction:

Stenography comprises skills in Shorthand, Transcription and Typewriting. In this we learn to how to write

spoken words  shorthand language for fast recognition of words.

This skill is being included in the curriculum as many students have the aptitude

towards this particular area. Besides, its knowledge provides early employment opportunities.

It  expects from the learners , after getting training in this field, will not face any type of difficulty in

getting suitable jobs.

Goals in Stenography :

This course aims at enabling learners to: Develop skills in quick written communication                         Improve essential traits and behaviour patterns e.g. concentration, judgement, initiative Cultivate vocational skills for gainful employment in stenography and prepare for gainful employment.

2.Wage employment: Stenographers, Office worker, Clerk at courts.

Education : X Class pass

Duration of the course:

The total duration of the stenography course is upto one year only and we also provides certificates
to all the students certified by government.

Types of stenography courses

Machine Stenography Course:

In this stenography students take this required class with the goal of performing 2-voice,

multi-voice and literary stenography at minimum word per minute (wpm) speeds and with a

minimum accuracy rate. Phonetics, concentration and careful listening are coupled with manual

dexterity for specialized keyboarding skills.

Coursework includes general shorthand theory and practice with drills and shorthand exercises.

The ability to take dictation, read back from notes and work under the conflict-free theory is cultivated.

This class may include computer-based machine shorthand.

Judicial Reporting Stenography Course:

In another stenography required class, students recognize the characteristics of reporting for depositions,

hearings, trials and related courtroom activities. They learn how and when to interrupt a speaker and how

to write and transcribe for circumstances requiring an interpreter. General and real-time transcription is

practiced, plus medical dictation, daily copy reporting, using reference materials and preparing legal

citations.

A comprehensive overview of judicial procedures and applicable reporting technology is typically included

. Professional elements of stenography careers are also explored, like official and freelance work,

certification, state licensing requirements and ethics.

Standing Out from the Crowd after Steno course:

Most employers want stenographers who can perform realtime captioning or transcription,
so being proficient in CART is important. Becoming certified in an area of stenography,
such as court reporting, broadcasting captioning or CART can give you an edge in most jobs.
Also, accuracy and typing speed are critical, and some organizations only accept your resume
if you meet their requirements in this area.
Experience in specific fields, such as law, sports, medicine or working with the hearing impaired,
can open up more career opportunities. If you're bilingual or know sign language,
these language skills could also help you find jobs working with non-English speaking or
deaf clients.
